A ballet bag isn’t just a bag. It portrays how a dancer carries themselves and presents not only their artistry, but their personality to the world. Which is why it is essential that a dancer always carries their most cardinal ballet items in their dance bag, not only to optimize a productive class but also an organized self. Here is a curated list of the Top 5+ Essentials that a ballet dancer always need to carry in their ballet bag.
1. A Sturdy Bag
The first and most fundamental aspect of a well prepared ballet bag, is to own a sturdy, but beautiful, bag. There are several options for high quality ballet bags, all ranging in different colors and different prices, but these are some of the following best choices:

2. Warmup Clothes
Wearing high quality warmup clothes before and after a rigorous dance class is crucial for a dancers development, as it is important to keep the muscles warm before and after performing high intensive activity. These warm up clothes from both Repetto and Aluvie Wear, promote these high quality principles, as they contain soft materials and pretty exteriors in all of their clothing.

3. Snacks
It is important to stay fueled and energized while dancing, which is why it is essential to carry snacks that are quick and easy to prepare and consume. These are some of my favorite healthy snacks to have before, during, or even after dance class.

Apples contain tons of antioxidants, fiber, and Vitamin C; all promoting healthy digestion, a balanced immune system, and the protection of blood vessels.

I also love Activia yogurts, as they are made with no sugar and contain probioticss, which benefits ones gut health.
4. Pointe shoe kit and extra essentials
It is always important to carry the extra essential items that a dancer uses on a daily basis, such as tights, leotards, bobby pins, and a sewing kit. These items can be easily misplaced or broken, which is why it is crucial that a dancer always carries extras.

5. Stretching essentials
It is cardinal for dancers to stretch and warm up their muscles before a ballet class, and the best way to do that is through exercise devices. These two tools promote both flexibility and the revilement of muscle tension, which ensures that a dancer is warmed and capable to dance through a ballet class. The foam roller and resistance bands are also both very small tools, which ensures that it can fit into everybody’s dance bag.

Using a foam roller 45 minutes before a ballet class is a great exercise tool for improving flexibility and getting rid of any muscle tension or soreness in ones back and hamstrings.

6. Bonus!
Here are some extra items that are not necessarily necessary, but great to carry if you have the extra space.

It can be difficult to remember your own corrections plus your peers’ corrections after a ballet class, which is why it useful to jot down the notes and corrections that your teacher gives you. Jotting down these points over a linear amount of time can also be helpful, as you can look back to the corrections you once got and see if you are still receiving the same ones now, or if you have made any improvements.
